Hospitality

Our non-traditional perspective on hospitality design challenges means our approach is from a brand product viewpoint – notably as retail design has an increasingly important role.  Embracing emotional encounters creates lasting memories for your customers, whoever and wherever they are.

transforming spaces with innovative hospitality interior design

At Caulder Moore, we understand that hospitality interior design is more than just aesthetics; it's about creating an emotional connection and lasting memories for your guests. Our unique approach focuses on blending and integrating the brand identity and spirit with the functional needs of the individual space.

By creating memorable guest experiences that continue to exceed customer expectations, we achieve cut through and relevance in a competitive and fast moving and changing market for our clients.

established expertise in hospitality solutions

The hospitality industry is notoriously competitive with new entrants and new restaurant concepts being launched every day. Those operators that achieve sustainable success and win loyal brand fans are those that create experiences that are memorable, and exceed customer expectations and encouraging repeat visits. This extends beyond the core product of food and drink to something that will inspire customers to share, captures their imaginations, enthuse about and become loyal advocates.

Our expertise in innovative design ensures that every project, from hotel to restaurants, reflects the unique vision of our clients while delivering exceptional results. We have an firm understanding of cutting edge hospitality concepts not only because we are based in a dynamic and fast paced city such as London, where trends and style are always on the move but also due to the diversity of our work.

This diversity is evident at Chiswick Cinema, where we transformed a brutalist building into a stylish and glamorous space whilst working closely with contractors and architects to deliver a seamless comfortable customer experience.

future proof design principles

It is essential that the design concept is reflective of the food offer itself, shaping expectations of what the experience will deliver as well as optimising for a sustainable future. This is why our 360 background in strategy, brand and retail design is so relevant in hospitality interior design.

For example at Antipodea in Richmond, we focused on bringing in an evening crowd with a theatrical fireplace and plant wallpapers inspired Kew Gardens nearby resulting in a +100% sales uplift.

We begin the creative design process by drilling into the details of the offer, the proposition and our client aspirations, understanding in depth what it is that they are seeking to deliver and create. Considerations at this stage include their future plans, whether they envisage a single site business or have aspirations to create a concept that will expand to other venues, transient spaces such as airports or global locations.

tailored design solutions

An ideal example of truly getting under the skin of a hospitality business and tailoring our designs to meet the specific needs and aspirations of each client was our collaboration with Swiss Butter. Successfully operating from 3 original sites in Beirut and recently launch sites in the UAE, Dubai and KSA, London was chosen as their first European location.

One of the distinctive features of Swiss Butter as a hospitality business model was that they felt their success was down to their unique brand culture and their devotion to attention to detail in every aspect of their operation from their menu to their restaurant design and experience. Consequently they eschewed a franchise approach as they wanted to retain the strength of this culture, and not allow it to be diluted in any way.

With their London opening, we collaborated closely with the Swiss Butter team, adapting elements of their concept, such as furniture and lighting, not only to fit into the space, but also to feel a little more localised to their London location. With lighting being such a crucial part of the ambience, we sourced bespoke lighting pieces that were used to strategically highlight key areas - kitchen, bar, service - whilst turning it down elsewhere to create a sense of intimacy.

We were chosen as interior design partners because they had seen and experienced a hugely successful concept we had created called Urbanista in their home market of Lebanon as well as our collaboration with Zataar w Zeit, another local brand, that has expanded successfully internationally so were very familiar with our work for other clients in the region.

integrating function with design and comfort

Our designs blend artistry and functionality, ensuring that every space is not only visually stunning but also practical and efficient. We focus on creating environments and interiors that are both memorable, user-friendly and distinctive.

It is essential to map out the ideal customer journey in a specific space, to understand guest flow, and the specifics of the operation. With Swiss Butter, for example, we spent time with them in their restaurant in Beirut to understand in detail how the operation functioned, and how the central theatre kitchen played an important role not only in the experience, and provided a key visual focus, but also as an integral part of the customer journey.

Caviar House has been a long standing client where we have created successful interior design concepts for both their retail and hospitality business in Heathrow terminal 3 and 4. We have overcome space challenges for them in terminals that are highly competitive, fast moving environments, to create stylish and relaxing destination experiences.

our collaborative approach

Our work ethic is highlighted by a two way flow of information and ideas to ensure client satisfaction, and close alignment with the brand and commercial vision throughout the project.

A great example for this is our work with Birds Bakery where we created a new interior design concept and experience that has revitalised their business, attracting new customers, increasing dwell time, and increasing basket size. Furthermore, additional and important benefits and results have been increased perception of value of the product through and enhanced visual experience and elevated product presentation and merchandising.

comprehensive hospitality design services

From initial consultation to final installation, our comprehensive design services cover every aspect of your project. We work closely with you to ensure that every detail is highly considered and aligns with your brand identity, vision and culture.

We begin with a deep immersion not only into the brand and its values but also to discuss and understand operational requirements and how they may vary according to individual sites, or indeed locations in other parts of the world.

On occasion our client will benefit from, particularly if they are in start up or emerging brand mode with a clearer distillation of their brand vision. In this instance the brand strategists in our team will help to create a sound and robust strategic brand framework.

We then start to develop the brand imagery through exploratory mood boards to sense check the style of the concept direction, prior to drilling into the specifics of the concept and venue, interior design, layout plans, visuals, colour palette, customer journey, fabric and materials , lighting, and furniture style. Often our brief extends beyond interior design to include branding, menu design and uniform style.

We work through to design intent drawings, and supervision on site to completion, followed by an evaluation process prior to extension of the concept to further sites and locations.
