Merkal has launched the new Alpaso brand to ‘own’ the growing comfort footwear market in Europe - a retail experience that reframes convenience as stylish, aspirational and active.

The layout is simple to navigate and self-service is easy: extensive brand choice is apparent without overcrowding. Plenty of comfy seating encourages try-ons and extends dwell time.

Alpaso is a volume proposition but with considerable added value. The powerful lapis blue makes a bold visual standout statement in a crowded environment to drive footfall.

Inside, the design approaches the shopping experience from the perspective of meeting customer needs.

We chose Caulder Moore not only because of my personal experience in working with them as a design partner in the past, but also because of their understanding of the brief for delivering our new Alpaso brand concept.

A highlight is the floor surface that features several different textures.  This heightens the sensory stimulation of footwear comfort and materiality through the walking experience both indoors and outdoors..
